Pork Ribs
We know of more than one boy who started a love of cooking with a recipe like this.
Ingredients
- 2 racks pork ribs
- water to cover
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup soya sauce
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 Tbsp honey
- 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 finely chopped shallots
- 1 cup tomato paste
- 2 Tbsp finely chopped mixed fresh herbs
Equipment
- large stock pot with lid
- cutting board and sharp knife
- measuring cups and spoons
- can opener
- medium bowl
- roasting pan
- baster
- oven mitts
Directions
- Place ribs in stock pot and cover with cold water. Cover with lid and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer, leaving lid on at an angle. Simmer 1 hour.
- Peel shallots and chop finely. Wash and finely chop the herbs.
- In a medium bowl, mix brown sugar, soya sauce, molasses, honey, Worcestershire sauce, shallots, tomato paste and herbs. Blend well.
- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- When ribs are cooked (after 1 hour), drain water and place ribs in roasting pan. Cover ribs with sauce. Bake 1 hour, basting occasionally with sauce.
- Serve hot!
