Try this - Frittata with spring veggies!

Our “try this” posts highlight one easy main dish paired with a few sides—perfect for kids who want to try cooking a meal, or for parents who are looking for a little weeknight inspiration. This month: frittata with spring veggies!

Freshen up your lunch or dinner routine—learn how to make a quick and easy frittata with spring veggies!

Frittatas are often described as a crustless quiche, but we’d argue they’re a variation on an omelet -- once they’ve firmed up in a frying pan, you pack them full of your favourite veggies, top with cheese, and transfer them to the oven for a quick bake. The result is a super quick and nutritious meal that feels fancy but is very simple to make. Frittatas are also an excellent way to use up leftovers—whatever veggies you have in your fridge can be combined with cheese or chorizo (or both!) to make a crowd-pleasing breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

To really showcase the tastes and colours of spring, try this Asparagus Chorizo Frittata with Lemony Spring Salad. We also love these mini-frittatas from our community (they make great on-the-go snacks), and spicy chorizo frittata is a tasty way to wake up your meal.

If you have a younger kitchen helper, 2.5-year-old Nora and her mom can show you how to make a frittata together in this video! For older kids learning meal preparation, a frittata is a great weekday recipe to try out solo, and it pairs beautifully with practically any salad—check out our salad recipes or try our recipe search tool for more fresh ideas!
