What’s better than sharing a meal with friends? Why, cooking a meal with them! Get ready to enter our Palentine's Giveaway for a chance to win big.

For many of us, day-to-day cooking is a thing that needs to happen fast—between after-school and activities, there’s not a lot of time to relax and enjoy the cooking process. But it doesn’t have to be that way: when you cook with friends and family, you can tackle some really delicious projects together that are too exhausting to do on your own...and have a blast doing it. With Valentine’s falling on a Friday this year, we’re challenging our readers to participate in our Palentine’s Giveaway: invite your friends or child's friends over to cook together, make some memories, and enter to win a prize! See the end of this post for more giveaway details.

First, let’s talk about how to cook with other people. When you’re cooking in a larger group, you’ll want to make sure that there are enough knives and cutting boards for everyone. Start by assigning tasks: some friends can start peeling or chopping, while others stir or sauté. Kids of all ages and abilities can help—while your tween might be ready to organize their friends' cooking tasks themselves, you can check out our tutorial on how to get even a toddler helping out in the kitchen.

And what should you make? Dream big! Because many hands can make a big cooking job easier, this is your chance to try more elaborate projects like dumplings: one team can make filling, one team can make dough, and everyone can get to work folding and pressing. Try pierogies, steamed pork dumplings, vegetarian dumplings, fruit dumplings—even ravioli! Sushi is another meal that takes lots of prep, but is super fun and fast when everyone works together. If you’ve got lots of folks attending with different dietary restrictions, try a meal that’s got something for everyone, or put together some of these handheld meal ideas. To make it a party, put together a long table and cook a lazy Valentine’s Day brunch together, or make it a Valentine’s Pizza party! For a smaller group, try these simple Valentine’s meal ideas to make the day meaningful. And don’t forget your furry friends: make some sweet Valentine’s memories with your four-footed pals using these recipes.
