It’s Hands-on Cook-off time! What will you be making this year?

Our Hands-on Cook-off contest runs from April 15-May 15, 2015. We can't wait to see what you'll be making this year!

Our Hands-on Cook-off Contest kicks off next week and we want to know: What will you be making in your entry this year?

We’re excited to announce that our 6th Hands-on Cook-off contest will open next week, with a ton of support from kids, parents, teachers, chefs and families across BC. This year, our panel of judges includes our youngest judge to date, Liam Lewis of The Little Locavore; the award-winning Chef David Hawksworth; Global TV’s Melodie Yong; Sarah Bancroft, Editor-in Chief at Vitamin Daily; and Barb Finley of Project CHEF.

The Hands-on Cook-off is our way to celebrate—with you!—the role kids can play at home in their kitchens, and remind us parents to invite our children in as often as we can. Why? Cooking and eating together is linked to many benefits, including better grades in school, better health, improved mental health, and better overall social adjustment. Plus, recent studies indicate that setting aside time to be unplugged during mealtimes—to turn off media like TV, phones, and devices—is incredibly important.

We can’t wait to see what you’ll submit this year! If you already know what you’re making, you can let the fine folks at yoyomama.ca know here for a chance to win a Kitchen Aid Mixer… it might just come in handy for your entry!

Here’s how to enter the Hands-on Cook-off:

From April 15th until May 15th any BC resident can enter the Hands-on Cook-off Contest. Simply grab a friend or relative and create a home video cooking show three minutes long or less. Videos must include two or more people preparing a recipe together… and having fun! Full contest details, including sample videos and where to upload, can be found on the contest site: http://bettertogetherbc.ca/contest

Prizes:

Several cash prizes of $1000 and $500 will be awarded in different categories to individuals and schools. Total prizes up for grabs are valued at over $4000. Full prizing details can be found here on April 15, when the contest officially launches!  http://bettertogetherbc.ca/contest/page/prizes-awards
